Somewhere on Earth right now, someone is suffering.
Somewhere on Earth, this tiny green ball of water and sand, someone is joyful.
Today, on the third planet from the star Sol, someone is contemplative.

It’s hard to image the scope of this planet. Compared to others, we are quite small, but in some freak irony, we are the only one to sustain life. We house many different races of people, which bicker and squabble amongst each other while trying to feign some kind of species-unity.

I often question: “If aliens suddenly decided to make their presence known to us, what would be the Earth’s national anthem?” My answer to this question is Bohemian Rhapsody, but that’s beside the point – what image are we presenting to the outside? If you think about it realistically, our planet is almost in a near perpetual civil war; a conflict between the races based on religion, land, moral beliefs – you name it, we’re fighting about it. I’m almost embarrassed that my species can’t get its act together and be human. Not “Caucasian”, not “Asian”, not “Black”, not “Slavic”, or any mix thereof: human.

Really, it isn’t hard to think of space and the ever-expanding universe without feeling small and insignificant. What do we, as a species, have to offer? What do we, as a species, have that could hypothetically set us apart from the legions of others out there?

I’m having a hard time finding an answer.
Just a little something that was on my mind while listening to Daft Punk's "Around the World" off their album "Homework."

Sort of turned negative. Weird, eh?
